After reading Design Noir I really like Noir products, especially some design that mentioned in the book like Suicide Computer and Safe Sex Inventions for the Age of AIDS. It is kind of absurd to me. And Noir products emphasize that users should be a co-producer. This is a very important point that makes it totally different from conceptual design. And I am feel like this kind of design is between speculative design and industry design. It can reveal some important issues or phenomenon among our society. It also can provide some real functions to the users.

Why We Need Things talks about that objects are not just have their physical functions, they also have some spiritual meanings for users. I think this is because human is animals that lack of sense of safety and fear loneliness. Human will project their feelings to objects to build certain connections with them to satisfy themselves. As for me, I really love my teddy bear that I have for 9 years. I think my bear is different from any other teddy. I always take him when I am alone. Another thing about objects is that when people own something this object will be a special one not only for its owner but also for the other people. When certain objects attach to a certain person, this object also gains its owner’s background and experience. So as far as I am concerned, people also project their feelings and experience to their objects.
